<p>My son got his letter last week. We were very excited since it has been his #1 choice for a couple of years. But reality has sunk in. $10 K is nice but it doesn't go far with the big tuition hike this year. We were hoping the merit aid would be higher to cover some of that hike.
Now we have to seriously think about his other choices which have given him almost twice the aid. We're all pretty sad...</p>

<p>Not an early write but D received her acceptance today! She's thrilled. She did have an early write to Oberlin and I think that's her current favorite but she knows she could be happy at either place.</p>

<p>Okay, not I'm stressing out. Where are you guys from that have heard so far? I'm on the east coast, so I'm guessing that may make for a bit of mail delay. I just have a bad feeling I wont be getting in. Grinnell is my first choice, but I didnt decide that until pretty late... I hate to ask, but can someone chance me? </p>

<p>I think you have a good shot at admission. Your ACT puts you in the top 25% for Grinnell and they take into consideration an upward trend in grades. As Grinnell told me, if there is going to be forgiveness for a bad year of grades, it is going to be greater forgiveness for 9th grade rather than 11th grade. Your EC's look fine. Also, I feel Grinnell really looks at the whole person more than many schools do. If you interviewed that can be a benefit.</p>
