I just got two big fat envelops. One from Bowdoin and the other one from WESLEYAN!!!!
Wesleyan's acceptance letter and sticker was inside a pretty red folder..

Dear Kim,

Congratulations! It gives me great pleasure, on behalf of the admission committee and the Wesleyan faculty, to offer you admission to the Class of 2013. You are among the first group of students to be notified of your regular decision acceptance because we feel that you have so much to add and contribute to the Wesleyan community: we want you to begin now to plan to be at Wesleyan next fall!

You were chosen for one of the highly coveted spaces in the class from an applicant pool of 10,000+, the largest and most competitive pool in Wesleyan's history. We are confident that your academic strengths and personal interests are particularly well suited to the university. (*It goes on and on.. ;)

Again, let me congratulate you and be the first to welcome you to Wesleyan!

Sincerely,

(And the Dean of Admission added a handwritten note at the end.
"YES! COME TO WES!"

But guess what? That was not the end! I had another envelop inside from the financial office. I got a full-ride to there!! ($52,597) They are even paying for my traveling expense ($850) and all the aids are in form of grants and scholarships. No loans!

Than you so much Wesleyan!!! And good luck to everybody.
You will get an awesome news soon.. :)

Lacey, I am just like you and I got early writes from Wes and Bowdoin! I still haven't receive my fin. aid packages, but seeing as how my EFC is 0 I am hopeful that my package will look amazing like yours! :D

AvantTao: If your EFC was 0, your fin aid will be pretty generous, I think. Have you turned in all the tax returns and documents? It might be better to hurry because they will have limited grants available for students each year. What about Bowdoin? Have you heard from the financial aid office yet?

I faxed all my forms to Wes on Monday and will finish faxing in all my documents to Bowdoin by tomorrow, so I should be all set. I'll try calling Wes again tomorrow to see if they got everything in and if I should be fine. Being an early write has given me a cushion of time because they still have acceptance letters to send out.

I agree. Now I can relax. I was so disappointed when I got rejected from MIT on the 14th. But Now I got a full-ride to Wesleyan! Yay! Did you get the invitation for the Experience Bowdoin 2009? I am definitely going!

Yes, I did! I hope to see you at Bowdoin Experience! I was shocked that it was 4 days! Oh man, I'm going to have a tough choice on April 20th...

I think it is so awesome that they are willing to pay everything. I felt so special because other colleges don't usually do that. I get to go to Maine all the way from Texas. lol Even though I got a full-ride from Wesleyan, I am going to the Bowdoin Experience for 4 days. Hope their financial packet will be generous like Wesleyan. :)

livemylife: actually, no. Because some of the people got accepted through the Early-Decision a while ago and even a few through the QuestBridge program.

Congratulations! My early write letter also had "yes! come to wes" handwritten. I thought it was really nice, and I now wonder if the person wrote that on every letter that was sent early.

You too!! It doesn't make it any less special though, just because she wrote it on everyone's. I think it's really a nice touch that she did that :)

yeah in The Gatekeepers (a book written a few years back by a NYTimes reporter on the Wesleyan admissions process) there was a section on how Dean of Admissions & Fin Aid Nancy Hargrave Meislah writes on everyone's letter and sometimes will accidentally start writing her grocery list and write things like "milk" and have to reprint some letters
