Anyone else receive one? I just got one today, postmarked March 1st.

I got one too, post marked the 1st also

I got mine Thursday…such a surprise. That website lists April 1st as the decision date, so why did we get ours a month early?

Sorry if I’m dense, but I never heard the term before. Is an early write a notification of their decision earlier than April 1st? And is it always positive?

Laura’sDad,
An “early write” or “likely letter” is an indication of a forthcoming admission. They are always positive, unless they find out something “horrible” about the candidate before the official letters come through. :)

To the other posters who received the early writes-may I ask where you live? And, major congratulations of course!

Someone I know got one, but I haven’t heard anything myself, and nor has another friend of mine. From what I heard though it isn’t a likely letter, it’s actually an acceptance.

You guys who have had them - does it say anything about financial aid?

Congratulations!! :D

Those who got early writes - what were your stats?

It wasn’t my stats, that’s for sure. My test scores are in the middle 50% of Oberlin, 28-ACT. 1870 SAT. But my ECs and awards are very unique, that’s for sure.

I’m from Los Angeles, CA by the way.

were all of you on the mvp program? what was your gpa, if you don’t mind me asking?

anyone in northern ca heard yet?

MVP program. 3.5 UW/3.8 W. My adcom explained the drop in GPA in my additional info. Personal issues.

I got a personal e-mail from my admissions counselor about my application but she didn’t say that I’d been accepted. It’s kind of frustrating. But I figure, if an admissions official takes time to write an e-mail to me that she “enjoyed reading my application” it can’t be bad. I love Oberlin!

Yeah, mine was an actual acceptance, not a likely letter. The first line says, “Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Oberlin’s Class of 2014,” accompanied by the typical admissions packet. I don’t know why I got it now, but I sure am glad!

I’m from upstate New York. Still waiting to hear back from other places but Oberlin will be a serious contender nonetheless!

Hmmm not too many people have said they have received one of these early writes. Here’s hoping for TODAY’s mail!!! Gah!

My stupid mailman is so slow. Curse waiting.

Yeah I got my acceptance letter about a week ago, then the next day I got an e-mail saying I got it early so they could invite me to “Multicultural Weekend.” Sounds exciting!

Financial aid was not too great though, only $15,000 a year It would be ok if the tuition wasn’t $53,000

I’m from the LA area. My stats are alright but not stellar. 4.1 W/ 3.6 UW. 2100 on the SAT, did not take the ACT. Decent extra curricular activities, and I am heavily involved in policy debate. Oberlin is the only college I have heard back from, I really wish all colleges would speed up the process like Oberlin

Hey all, I just posted this in another thread, too, but a small number of students have already received their acceptance letters, so that they could be invited to a special fly-in program in April (the Multicultural Visit Program). Everyone else will have to wait until the end of March to receive their letters (our mail date isn’t definite right now, but it will not be any earlier than the 25th).

Has anyone received an early write to Oberlin this year yet?

I didn’t know Oberlin sent an early write!
Yeah, so did anyone get one this year?

got an email yesterday informing me that I had been accepted. They send these acceptances early because of the Multicultural Visit, which is really awesome since they pay for everything!
