Earning Money at Georgetown

OK, let's say that you're too busy for a "legitimate job" during the school year (outside of school). Are there any ways to earn money during the school year (on-campus opportunities)?

Also, if you work for The Corp or the Bank, are they paid jobs or just "unpaid internships?"

The Corps jobs are paying jobs…not sure about the credit union. Working for the Corp is great experience and a lot of fun. There’s a huge social network associated with the Corp. However, Corp jobs can be hard to obtain. There can be many applicants and hiring can be selective. Good luck.

There are also a ton of university related jobs where they basically pay you to sit at a desk answer phones and do your homework. Of those student guarding (making sure people swipe into buildings) is the way to go

GUASFCU (the credit union) doesn’t pay. The Corp does. As above, being a student guard is definitely the best; you just sit there and do your homework and watch (or in many cases don’t watch) people swipe into the building. The key to getting those jobs though is to get an early start on it. Don’t try to get one in mid-October.

Should we be acquiring jobs before we get to Georgetown? Or would finding one in September-ish be okay too?

Well Corp doesn’t do anything until you get on Campus. As for other on campus jobs, the sooner you start the better. If you already have a NetID, then go An error has occurred; here and look around.
