I am half Jewish and white. However, i don't know or do anything that has to do with Jewish culture or religion, and I've been Christian my whole life. Now that I'm thinking of the colleges I want to apply to, I realize that although Jews are common in excellent schools (Harvard for example), they are still considered a minority. Also, they are stereotyped as being very smart, which leads to the belief that they will do well in college (even though this, for the most part, is true). With this in mind, would putting this on college apps increase my chances for getting in, especially since I am already well qualified? Any opinions or info are welcome, and I'm sorry if this thread somehow offended anyone in any way.

If you do not practice Judaism and have no cultural ties with it, then why LIE and state that you are Jewish. Just do not do it.

Being an ethnic Jew will not help you in the college admission process from a systemic standpoint. Of course, there may be admissions officers who are personally biased toward or against Jewish applicants, but that’s true of any ethnicity.

If you were a practicing Jew who displayed a passion for celebrating your culture and religious life and had a list of extracurriculars that reflected said passion, then it could potentially be an admissions plus. (That’s true of any religion, though less so of Christianity than others since Christianity is so common.)

Only for schools like BC.
