Easier admission than some other schools that seem equivalent?

I’m no expert but it seems to me that the acceptance rate is higher (and avg GPA lower) at Fordham than at some non-flagship state schools that we’ve investigated. Do people avoid it because it’s Jesuit? Or am I overestimating its quality?

IMHO, its due to cost. High price schools are accepting more students because there is a smaller pool of people who will pay. State schools are becoming more competitive to get into because so many students (even high quality ones) want to go there due to the price tag.

We did the tour today, and the average GPA for 2021 admits is 3.75. How many state flagships have an average higher than that?

Empireapple I suspect that you’re right.

Mstomper There are a few NC schools that are as hard to get into. Chapel Hill (natch) and State are rougher.

Also because Fordham has non-binding EA it is a safety school for some people who want a good, midsize, private college. Scroll down on this link and look at the enrolled class profile and you will see that it is a quality school. https://www.fordham.edu/info/24633/admission_facts
