Easier to get in - Brown or Duke...

for a non-legacy, home-schooler for ED? Also, which college is better for business pre-professionals?

I'd say they are pretty comparable, with Duke being slightly easier since they have a higher ED acceptance rate (I believe 31% this yr. as opposed to Brown having a rate somewhere in the mid 20%'s) For business pre-professionals, I'd give the advantage to duke since they have the top ranked Fuqua business school whereas Brown does not have a business school so u may be able to get internships and such more easily. I'm not really that familiar with the prebusiness program and advising at either school so I'll leave it at that.

Brown.

........

Fuqua doesn't really do anything for pre-business kids at Duke, besides certain upper level finance courses and the occasional senior-only seminar I think.

I would say that Brown and Duke are roughly comparable in terms of admissions selectivity. The differences would be more dependent on the types of students they accept, so an individual student might find one easier while a different student the other.

Just a pure hunch, my guess a home-schooler application would be a little better targeted for Brown.

duke doesnt have an undergrad business school, Fuqua is for MBA

yep, they said a BS in Econ with some 300 finance courses would end up being the same thing

Well Brown has a 'Commerce, Organizations, and Entrepreneurship' concentration (though it's geared less to the financial side), while Duke has a 'Markets and Management' certificate program (which has more finance courses). Also, leejwwc has a point that Duke has a business school and hence easier to secure internships. However, I love both colleges and I don't have much of a preferance; I just wanna apply ED for the one I stand a better chance in admission... Which college admits more legacies, athletes and international students from ED?
