Im looking to transfer and I heard that it’s easier to get into Cornell if you are from New York? I am a resident of New York but I am currently attending a top 30 private university on the east coast. Is this true?
No I don’t think that is the case but there are certain schools at Cornell where tuition is cheaper if you are from NYS.
Sometimes I feel like Cornell likes to take rural NY kids who go to small schools with few APs, etc. This is not at all scientific; it’s just from looking at the stats of people here who are rejected, and knowing roughly the stats of the kids from our rural Ithaca area school who get in, every year. Unless maybe they have enough experience with the small nearby schools to know how well prepared those kids are? Your guess is as good as mine.
29.1% NY in last year’s freshman class.
As they push for more FirstGen students that NY number should decline, as should the 60% from New England and the Mid Atlantic.
