Easier to change major in CALS to CALS, or is it the same if i change a major from CAS to CALS?

bump.......

I would say in general it's much easier to change within CALS, but i don't have experience. It also depends on the major. If you are changing from CAS biology to CALS biology or Humec biology and society which has similar requirements, then it might be easier. If you are changing from CAS to CALS AEM, it's a lot harder b/c a lot of people try to change to AEM.

lets say i want to do AEM, and if that is my first choice.. what should my second option be? if i want in the end to transfer to AEM.

Apply to another major in CALS that interests you...if you are not accepted into AEM the 1st time...you can take intro AEM classes that non-AEM majors can enroll in (not sure what they are) and also take classes to get started on your CALS distribution requirements. Changing majors in CALS isn't difficult...but if you come into CALS from a different college it can be difficult because you also have to fulfill all of the CALS grad requirements.

I would speak with someone in CALS admissions or the AEM department to get better insight

i just mailed them, lets see what their reply is.

^I hope you didn't email admissions asking for advicing on strategizing your second choice decision.

(true advice though: currently changing majors within a college (even to AEM) is super-duper-cheesy-meesy-easy- so if you want AEM or bust- it would make sense to have a backup major within CALS)
