Hey all!

Trying to find a campus job where I can still get a lot of studying done (i.e. checking in library books at a counter etc...) Any ideas?

I'm trying to do this through the Work-Study program at U of M. Work Study is a type of financial aid where they'll pay you more per hour your work if you receive it (to my understanding).

Thanks!
Chairman

(i.e. checking in library books at a counter etc…)

I’d likely guess that any job like that has already been filled.

Not saying it to be discouraging, just that such a job would (obviously) be desirable, and someone else would probably have jumped at it before you.

Chairman, somewhere in your wolverineaccess interface there will be a link to an job board for open student positions – or at least there used to be.

Go take a look and see what’s out there. One of my son’s friend’s enjoyed working at the library for the very reasons you expressed. I don’t know when they made the hires, or if they’ve made them all.

The library job has got to be the easiest but the pay is also the lowest. From what I saw on the student employment website, they usually start at $7.65 an hour, whereas almost any other job pays at least $8-$10. You might still be able to find one.

Not sure whether department libraries still exist, but years ago there were close to 30 small department libraries throughout campus. It used to be relatively easy to get a work-study job at one of those. They were not highly sought after jobs. But, the possibility to get some study time in was there. You really need to find out what jobs are still available and start there.
