Hi, I’m a junior and will be applying to UM next year, it isn’t my top choice, more of a reach school, but I was wondering what some of the easier majors are, I’m gonna apply to Sport Management in the School of Kinesiology.
Also, I know that they have a sport management and ross business dual degree program, which I am interested in, but does anyone know if you have to be accepted into Ross to do that?
I believe for the BBA and Sports Management dual degree, you mnust first be admitted to Ross and then apply during your sophomore year to Sports Management, more information here: http://www2.bus.umich.edu/MyiMpact/academics/bba-dual/sport-mgmt .
UM does mostly admits by school, so I do not think majors within the same school affect chances at admission (for the most part). Be careful about applying to the “easiest” school- I am sure each school looks for fit.
That is true. Must be admitted to both Ross and the Sports Management program. I would not say that kinesiology is “easiest” either. They are definitely looking for students who have shown a demonstrated interest in the major in addition to grades, test scores, etc. If you have no demonstrated interest in the field as shown in your courses or extra-curricular activities you will most likely not be admitted.
^^^^^ Exactly. You can get into Kinesiology (and Nursing) with lower scores and grades than LSA (or Engineering) but you must have course and extra-circulars/work/educational programing that demonstrates a strong interest in the program and you must write strong essays showing that interest.
With respect to Nursing someone with knowledge explained it this way. An OOS student with a 28 and a 3.7 non-low income student would probably need extraordinary extracurriculars and recommendations/essays to get into LSA since they would be in the bottom quarter of the class (probably fairly far into the bottom for a non-athlete who is OOS). The 28 and 3.7 would be considered somewhat of a hindrance. An OOS student seeking admission to nursing with those grades and scores would have a good chance of admission with “normal” extracurriculars that evidenced a strong interest in nursing (regular volunteer time at a hospital, community service at a nursing home, a course in anatomy as an extra science class) and good solid essays and recommendations. The 28 and 3.7 would place the student squarely in the middle 50 percent of the class.
@hld3471 @yikesyikesyikes I am very interested in sport management, I want to work in the sports field for a career. I’m not gonna apply to a major just because its easy, I was just wondering how easy kinesiology in since it is what I want to major in.
