Thanks Oop! And that Industrial Tech major does sound interesting. I’m planning to be a MIS major, but I can see myself doing some Industrial Tech stuff.

“I read from their website saying that 70% of pre-med students get into medical school, which is far better than the 40-45% average.”

Really? That’s impressive considering only 1/3 of UC Berkeley’s pre-med students get into med school.

are biology or Psychology somewhat less competitive than engineering or business to get in?

how impacted is the political science major?

Any major is competitive at any school regardless of the major of your choice. It even tells you that an impacted major is when you have more applications than seats available. I would imagine, biology and political science less impacted than the top notch programs at cal poly but still you’re going to have to compete just like everyone else. Psychology not too sure about, if it’s any indication of how many people are majoring psychology at my CC and plan on transferring then i would imagine thats a pretty impacted major as well.

another question if you don’t mind.=P

Do you think early decision help in any ways?

Truthfully, I have no idea, since freshmans are the only ones that are able to apply for ED. The best advice I could give you is when all the acceptances/rejections are out and they get there data sheet to call them in a few months maybe in may or june, and call up cal poly and see how many kids applied for ED and how many kids got accepted if there able to give you that information. I would imagine it wouldn’t be as competitive as RD, but it would seem logical that they’d be more apt to looking at your application more precise since there wont be as many ED than RD applicants, but then again i could be totally be wrong so thats just an assumption.

Hmm.ic. Because I was looking around and on the csumentor site. It had the 2006 early decision numbers. But like only 23% were accepted on ED.

I’m ED this year would be like 20% if not lower.

never mind, its for 2007-2008. But still, next year could get worse.

Hows the nutrition program here?

Nutrition is extremely hard to get into…

A bunch of people from my school applying to the “easy” majors got denied today. Fruit Science, Food Science, Rec and other ag majors denied about 15 people with stats over a 3.4gpa and 1600 sat…

Surprisingly a kid who had a 3.9 got denied into Forestry & Nat Resource Mgmt.

Good luck getting into SLO, easy majors wont do it for you unless you apply ED.

Well, I am applying ED.

When you say 1600 sat, what is the math+CR score?

nope total sat…

Look into what major you ED for… Crop Science is the only Ag major that has particularly accepted low gpa and sat applicants (atleast from my school). The kid had a 3.4 1500 sat… Peaceout

but then again, a 1500-1600 is like a 21-23 on the ACT. I know the average ACT for the Ag college was a 26. I think I have a chance at nutrition even with a 3.5 as long as I get at least a 28 on the ACT plus my volunteering/work stuff.

Btw, for those reading my prior posts, I only said I wanted to get into biology because it overlaps with the medical school requirements. I don’t really like bio/chem too much. It’s not really hard, but it’s not that interesting, maybe a little.

Plus, I’d like to know information about the foods I eat everyday.lol.

Definitely man, Nutrition is an extremely interesting major and is definitely considered a Pre Med major, in some ways more than Biology and Chem. Good Luck on getting in. If I could give you advice it would be not to obsess about it, you have about 6 months until you apply ED… Take it easy and get straight A’s. If you want to give yourself an even better chance, take some courses at your local community college. It could boost your GPA from a 3.5 to a 3.8-3.9 in one summer if you get all A’s and B’s. Peace

Also realize how important SAT’s are in determining your acceptance… Do one of those SAT prep classes. Look at revolutionprep.com its guarantees 200 points and is like 200$ I think.

Yeah, I’m one of those people who do way better on the ACT than SAT. I took the PSAT junior year and got a 1500.lol. So yeah…ACT is the way to go.

a 26 act isnt that good my friend… a 28 act wont open up any eyes either… With a 3.5 GPA you need to get atleast above a 30 ACT or above a 2000/1300 sat to help you get into a top major… Good luck, dont obsess over it right now… You have about 6 months before you have to start obsessing lol

I’m obsessing now.lol. My schedule is tough, I never knew yearbook would take so much out of you.haha.

All that work to become business manager my senior and I find out Cal Poly doesn’t place a lot on leadership…poop…
