HI! I am a junior hoping to study business and possibly finance in college. I took the Math 2 SAT and got a 800. I need another SAT subject test that I can self study. I only have 16 days to study… Is the US history SAT manageable to self study in that amount of time? Are there any others that anyone would recommend that can be self studied in 2 weeks?
Thanks
Have you taken AP US History or another US History class this year? If so, I would recommend taking it. I was in APUSH this year and got an 800 on the SAT II by reading the Kaplan USH SAT II review book the weekend prior.
Another option could be literature if you have a high reading score on your SAT I. I don’t think any prep is necessary - you either have those reading comprehension skills, or you don’t.
Try some practice questions on the Collegeboard website.
@jackrabbit14 Ok i think I will try literature. I have not taken APUSH, but i did take Honors USH when I was in 10th grade. I tried the US history SAT with no prep and got a 600… IF i prepared now a lot, I think I could do decent right?
@SternBusiness if you try USH, buy the Kaplan book, read it through (and highlight) at least twice, and take all the practice tests. I think this will be sufficient for a 700+ score. Btw, I was scoring 730-750 on the Kaplan practice tests, and then found the SAT II much easier, so don’t be discouraged. Were you in World History this year? Do you speak any of the languages that have SAT II tests?
Also, if you haven’t already registered for June, you could always prep over the summer and take the October test. I took Chem and USH in May and am gonna take Lit in October. Every college I’ve checked accepts the October SAT test date, even for early action/decisions.
No I was not in world history or US history this year. And I also do not speak any languages fluently. I (and few of my friends) find the language SAT 2’s to be hard because you cant really prepare for them. Is Kaplan better than barrons?
I second Literature. I took it cold, got a 790. Should be easy to self-study if you did okay on CR.
Don’t know. Maybe read both. Kaplan worked for me.
Ok thanks @NavalTradition I will try literature. Got a 730 CR so hopefully I can score decent on lit
