Easily self-studiable AP's?

Hey guys,

Which are the AP's which are pretty easy to self-study in 2-3 months and do well on (say, get a 5)?

Have you heard of searching? Questions similar to this have been asked on numerous occasions.
In a nut shell: Human geography, psychology, and stats

There's like 10 topics like this one the FIRST page...

psych
human geo
enviro. sci
stats
us gov't

micro/macro econ

How about composition? Euro? World?

self-studying ap world history is doable in three months. i did it, considering my teacher was crap and didn't do anything, and that i slacked off all year before finally starting. all you have to do is read a good ap word book in its entirety. and that means reading like crazy in those three months--every free time you have, maybe like three chapters a week. plus i know you might think none of it is sticking in your head (i know i did), but it totally stuck in my head for the ap test. i got a five =)

Dont colleges consider AP Stats as one of the easiest AP tests?

^ they consider it as second tier math compared to AP calculus. however, that is changing this year. CB is making the AP stat test harder, as difficult as AP calculus BC. why? b/c they never intended for the AP stat exam to be considered as second tier math.

That's ridiculous. College level statistics as a subject generally IS easier than a college level calculus class, so why would the CollegeBoard try to make it harder? It's like teachers who try to make easy AP's such as Psychology or Environmental Science way harder than they actually are just because it's "AP". Why can't teachers and the CollegeBoard just accept the fact that some college level subjects are easier than others? Just because a class has to be "college level" doesn't mean it has to made harder than it really is.

I agree with otay57, that's BS

don't complain to me, tell College Board. :/

College Board won't listen to just one person. WENEED TO RISE UP IN OUR GLORIOUS MOMENT OF no I'm too lazy. sigh w.e.

People will only do it if "colleges like it"

well i self studied psych and human geo and got fives. I also heard that envi sci was really easy to get a five on.

however, i will say that for human geography, i read the book so thoroughly that in the beginning, I was confident I was going to get a five. Then when I got the test and saw the multiple choice, I was completely guessing on every other question. But then, I think I got close to a 100% on the writing... so maybe it evened out, somehow, to a five. So the moral of the story is don't be discouraged if you think you know nothing because chances are if you study, you'll do fine.

If you have a good ear, then AP Music Theory becomes extremely easy to self-study.

I basically self-studied AP Bio (because my teacher was HORRIBLE and because I was too lazy to study for the first part of the year). I read through my whole textbook in about a month and an AP prep book in about a week... that was pretty much all I did and I got a 5.

This is incorrect information. The College Board is not doing anything to change the AP statistics syllabus or the AP statistics test. (I asked about this on the official College Board email list for AP statistics teachers.) On the other hand, maybe it is already correct information to say that AP statistics is roughly as hard to get a 5 on as AP calculus BC, because the AP statistics syllabus involves a lot of reading and favors students who are strong in BOTH reading and in math. Yes, I know that most students who have first taken calculus think the MATH part of the AP statistics course is easy, and it is certainly only math that one would have learned before learning calculus, but statistics is not the same subject as mathematics.

for more about the rationale for the AP statistics syllabus.

I've heard that AP Statistics is almost if not just as hard as AP Calculus.

I don't personally even understand why people wonder whether AP Statistics is harder than AP Calc or not. The thing is, if you get a good prep book and study thoroughly in ALL areas (both FRQ and Multiple Choice), you should be able to get a decent score. I don't mean that you'll get five because that depends on various factors like nervousness, amount of AP you taking that year, and so on but generally, AP Statistics should not be so controversial about its difficulty.

And yes, as other people stated, it helps to use nice button called search in forum. You'll find much better advices as well (and not annoy others).
