East Carolina, Western Carolina, UNC Charlotte for Computer Engineering / Electrical Engineering

NC State is probably the best college in NC for engineering anything and I think I have the grades to make it, but I would like some safeties to go to just in case. My top choices are ECU, WCU, and UNCC. I have little doubt that I could make it into these schools. Does anyone know what the best electrical and or computer engineering program is in NC besides for NC State? Feel free to mention some out of state colleges that aren’t too far from NC.

UNCC would be the best of those three options for engineering. It has worked hard to improve itself in the last decade, and many of its buildings and facilities are brand new or recently renovated. Engineering is decent, particularly computer engineering, and Charlotte is growing by leaps and bounds. Though traditionally more of a commuter school than ECU or Western, UNCC has been trying to improve school spirit (e.g. adding a football team).

I’m not very familiar with ECU, but Western has always played second fiddle to App and UNC Asheville. Cullowhee is very small and isolated, and nearby Sylva isn’t much better. On the upside, Western has a gorgeous location and is the most outdoorsy of the UNC schools.

Take a look at Clemson.
