i was just wondering how an east coaster from the va/md/dc area would fare in stanford RD rounds? going against more cali acceptances than EA or what? or have they already filled the necessary quotas from east coast through EA? just curious. and stats for a rough idea-1570, 800,790,760. thanks

Your stats are good, but it does not guarantee admission... And there are no east cost quotas, so you won't be able to blame a rejection on that...

thanks, yea def. not blaming on quotas. i just wanted to know how their policy just worked

so who is applying from the east?

right here, applying from CT. I'm not too concerned by CA applicant competition if that's what you were getting at. I know that the freshman class usually ends up having less east-coasters simply cuz less people from the east coast apply. Stanford needs the diversity though so they're definitely not gonna frown at our location at all. I'm actually not sure if Stanford has regional representatives or not. Anyone know about that? If they do, can someone send me a list/link or whatever. Thanks.

They have regional readers, if that's what you mean?

accepted ea from dc here

applied RD from NJ here

yeah, raven. thats what i meant. do they have a list of them on the website or somewhere? I couldn't find anything.

I haven't found a list. I just heard that your application went through regional readers first, then to the committee. That's all I know.

I think that being from the East Coast probably won't hurt or help, but being from a general area where not many kids apply might. They are looking for diversity.

Good luck, though. :)

(accepted ea florida)

they'd LIKE to have a kid from every state... no North Dakotans in the class of '08. I think they accepted one or two, but they didn't come.

accepted ea from nyc

i think it's something like 30% are from california - but (a) california is a huge state and (b) the nyc area is practically that same percentage in a lot of the ivies on the east coast - like my friend from princeton (clearly exagerating) told me everyone he knew there was from nyc. so there's probabaly regional bias in every school. but if you're a strong candidate, you location won't make much of a difference.

and for the record, ea accepted - from nyc
