east coast equivelants to west coast schools

what would you say are some east coast schools equivelant to Lewis and Clark or Whitman College? I really like many aspects of these schools minus their west coast locations

anyone??..plz…

what do you like about them?

-size
-popular majors
-LAC
-liberal stance
-nice surroundings
-pretty campus
-admissions selectivity
-etc.

im just curious as to what are some east coast schools with similar qualities to these schools as well as a similar selectivity

Perhaps Goucher?

Whitman College and Williams College have a number of characteristics in common. Both are small LACS, with superb academics, pretty campuses, excellent regional reputations, and campuses that are in smaller towns–hence more of a sense of community for students.

Lewis and Clark is in Portland and, I believe, some of the students are commuters. Years ago, it had much less sense of community. Not sure where that stands now.

Try: Hamilton, Bates,Colby, Clark. Williams is at least a level more selective that Whitman, whereas I think the others listed here are more in the same ball park.

Although in the midwest, Kenyon and Grinnell seem similar to Whitman. (Oberlin may have some similar characteristics as well.)

Bates, Conn College, Skidmore, Vassar
