East Coast Safety Schools?

Does anyone have any good suggestions for east coast (or midwest) safety schools? For matches and reaches I've been looking at schools like Mount Holyoke, Wesleyan and Carleton. However, I'm a west-coaster and have not been able to find much information on some good potential safeties. Anyone?

Possible Criteria:
Small-Medium Size (1500-6000 students)
Liberal Arts
Beautiful Campus

Have you looked at:
Skidmore
Colgate
Bucknell
Hamilton
Connecticut
Union
Dickinson
Gettysburg
St. Lawrence
Goucher

I don't know your exact stats, so some of these may be matches. (Also haven't visited any, so I can't testify about beautiful campuses.) But they should be a good start.

Oh - maybe also Bard and Sarah Lawrence.

I don't think that schools like Colgate, Connecticut College, Hamilton, etc. would really be safeties for anyone. Good match suggestions, though.

For safeties, I'll second Skidmore, Union, Goucher, St. Lawrence, Bard, and possibly Sarah Lawrence.

Thanks for the wonderful suggestions. I will definitely have a look at these.

add Clark to that list too.

Holyoke is as easy to get into as any of those schools. It's probably safe with a 3.5/2000 from a decent school.

Add Muhlenberg and University of Richmond to the list.

I'd put Goucher in the catagory of tiny-small < 1,500 undergrads:

http://www.goucher.edu/x149.xml

I'll add a few more suggestions, some of which are often overlooked here. Some of these are actually in the midwest or the south rather than the Northeast, but since you're looking at Carleton, they are worth considering as well: Hobart & William Smith, Mulhenberg, Franklin & Marshall, Gettysburg, Villanova, Ursinus, Allegheny, Fordham, Alfred U, Elon, Furman, Guilford, St. Mary's College of Maryland (public LAC), College of Wooster, Beloit, Lawrence, Denison, Knox College, St. Olaf, Hendrix, Rhodes.

Thank you all for the input. I am definitely considering using Skidmore as a safety, and it's great to know that Mount Holyoke is more within reach than I previously thought.

Bump to see if anyone has last thoughts to add.

I talked to an F&M grad earlier today who just got her degree in English with a concentration in creative writing. Her love for the school was practically radiating out of her body, so I thought I would mention it again. Though she didn't seem as alternative as Mt. H/Wesleyan/Carleton, I think she was in tune with arty and free-thinking types of people.

If you are specifically looking for an arty and free-thinking college, check out Sarah Lawrence and Bard, too, as possible low match/safeties.

penn state
rutgers
west chester

St Lawrence (upstate NY)

Whatever you do, avoid Sienna College in Loundonville NY (Near state capital)

Its a hellhole

Don't use Skidmore as a safety. You can think of it as a safety, but you'll need another to supplement it. They are known for being unpredictable in admissions.

Wheaton (MA)

Colgate,Bates, Colby, Holy Cross, Triniity,Bucknell.

I dont think colby or bates are safeties
