east coast time

i submitted my app at like 9:00 here but it says i submitted on jan 2 because east coast time it was a few mins past midnight? is this ok? did they really expect the apps in by east coast time because i never read that anywhere

Common app time stamps things based on EST. The deadline time is generally 11:59 in whatever timezone the school is in. And it’s fine if the app is a couple minutes late.

well if the school is on the east coast do you think thats a problem? should i contact them or something?

Your app will be fine. There is a grace period after the deadline. If you feel particularly worried, you could email the admissions office but I’m sure they’ve already received tons of emails about this already plus they’re swamped with sorting all our files so I highly doubt you’ll receive a reply anytime soon (if any at all).

so if i do nothing, will there be a way to know if they received it and are considering it? like do all schools send confirmation emails when they get your apps? or will the only way to know be to e-mail and ask them?

It depends on the school. For me, schools like Stanford set me an email saying they recieved everything and I could check the status of my app and blah blah. Why don’t you ask the people at the whatever school you applied to forum on CC?

good idea. thank you! its nyu in case you happen to know

No idea, I didn’t apply but good luck! :)

The NYU facilty is all on break so they won’t be back till Jan 4. Tell me if you hear anything.
