uclari, were you sleeping outside? or in one of those japanese paper houses? lol, my feet are cold sometimes, but never my nose. i guess i have a naturally warm nose?

No, my house is pretty Western in construction, it's just THAT cold.

its funny cuz this morning(6:00) it was 45 degrees. and now i am practically wearing a t-shirt outside.

"Seriously, all the West Coast, "I want a change" people ought to try waking up and seeing the thermometer in your house say 0 degrees celcius."

Last year I left a glass of water in our TV room overnight...when I checked on it the next morning, it was frozen. $800/month in heat bills alone just for that.

this thread reinforces why I didn't go north for school.

hooray for not buying gloves and scarves and bulky parkas.

Hey, and a lot of the posters think they WANT that experience.

Sorry, but if you want snow, go take a trip to the mountains.

if u think about it. if u have really warm clothes, a working heater, carpet floor, and u dont have to ride ur bike or walk to school, it cant be THAT bad. or can it?

I think about it every single day, The_Who. Every day, after I get up and put on layer of thermal underwear, a long-sleeved shirt, a sweater, and maybe a coat as well (oh, and pants. Definitely pants.) I think about how I'm still cold. I think about how just to drive my car, I have to wear gloves because the steering wheel is too cold for bare hands. I think about how every gust of wind leads to tears and further damage to the already necrotic flesh of my nose. I think about how it costs me hundreds of dollars a month to heat my apartment (poorly). I think about how taking a shower is an exercise in careful planning and strategic heat placement.

I think about it a lot, and it still sucks.

wow. ok i take that back.

I am excited to be able to dress up for the different seasons, but I don't want it that cold. I hate skiing, snowboarding, etc., so I think that I will probably hate the snow if I stay around it too long. How chilly does Boston get?

The average low for Boston in the winter is mid- to low-20s. However, it has and does dip below 0.

That is not celcius, BTW.

You're forgetting about the Midwest :)

Here in Wisconsin it's single digits without the windchill. I like winter, but I hate starting every sentence when I enter a building with "It's too dang cold outside."

Snow: Well,if you don't have a driveway or such it's nice...but not when you're shoveling the fricken thing.

Oh and let's not forget about driving during winter...no matter how long you've been driving, everyone drives like a new student when the first snowhits. Try driving over 100 miles in the middle of the night through a blinding snowstorm on a two lane farm road (Madison to Green Bay)...it's not fun at all, and is scary as heck.

However there are some good things about winter: warm comforters, hot chocolate, skiing, snowball fight, "controlled" driving craziness, and the best part: laughing at those punks from the coasts as they freeze to death in 25 degree weather while you're still in a spring coat ;). mwhahahahaha.

"laughing at those punks from the coasts as they freeze to death in 25 degree weather while you're still in a spring coat"

make that 45 degrees here^^^

Its 65 degrees and raining, Im bitterly disapointed I cant wear my flip flops. I dont think Im cut out for cold weather.

wear do u live??^^^

65 and raining huh? So you cannot wear your flip flops and this is where? Doesn't sound like AZ.

"However there are some good things about winter... laughing at those punks from the coasts as they freeze to death in 25 degree weather while you're still in a spring coat . mwhahahahaha."

That's almost as fun as laughing at those punks from the Midwest who think that 8 inches of snow is a lot... :-P

Huh? I'm in one of the mild areas of the Midwest, and 8 ain't a lot at all.

"Huh? I'm in one of the mild areas of the Midwest, and 8 ain't a lot at all."

OK. I'll change my statement to read "That's almost as funny as laughing at those folks from the Midwest who think that 60 inches of snow a year is a lot. :-P"

i am back in upstate ny, after living in southern california for a while- where i had a basically nothing heating bill, and i miss it... and the 70s, its in the teens right now here
