East Hall

Hey everyone. I'm going to Gainesville in the Fall and am majoring in mechanical engineering. Because of my major, I'd like to dorm in East Hall. I could dorm in Hume but I'd rather have similar majors around me. From what I've heard (and seen on the map) East Hall has a pretty good location. But that's all I really know about it. I also don't know much about the Engineering Community other than what's on their website, which sounds good but I'd rather hear from someone who's actually experienced it. So is there anyone who has lives in East Hall and possibly participated in the Engineering Community? If so, can you tell me about it? I'd like to know more about the actual dorm, not as much about the Engineering Community...unless it's really lame ;o

Thanks!

I am interested in this as well.

Same here. I wasn’t too sue about the Engineering Community, mostly because I don’t know exactly what it is.

From what i have heard it’s just an easy way to stay close to all of the engineering classes and happenings… to keep you busy with engineering.

I would like to know the condition of the actual dorms. I visited UF in Feb and went to East Hall, but they would not allow me to see the rooms?

What kind of condition are they in?

How many guys per bathroom?

Do they have much of a social life?

thanks in advance. for any information. we are waiting for the scoop.

…seriously? No one knows anything about it?

gator4ever, you at least went there. Can you tell us what it was like?

My son is finishing up his freshman year as an engineer, living in Beatty. There may or may not be more future engineers living in East Hall, but classes in chemistry and calculus and most required writing classes are more in the center of campus, closer to Murphree and Broward dorms. I think the only advantage of East Hall may be living near the Physics building, just east of Hume. Get a bike either way. And a good chain. Good luck!

Ok guys this what I saw when I visited. Again they did not allow me into the dorms:

Location: AAA
Close to Dining: AAA
Close to class: AAA
how the building looked on the outside: C

It is near the stadium and across the street from the Oconell Center so you cannot find a better location.

I would like to know what the dorms are like. The exterior of the buildings looked like WWII era buildings. OK maybe Korean way. LOL
