East Hall

So, I am going to be a freshman in the fall and I am living in East Hall and have some questions about that and some questions in general...
I know some or at least one of the floors were remodeled(the 4th floor) and I didn't know if anyone knew anything about that?
Do I need to buy a curtain rod for the closet or is their one? Is a shower curtain length right or not?
I know there is a kitchen on every floor but do I need a toaster or is stuff like that already there?
Do you recommend a vacuum?
Where is the laundry facilities? In the building?
I hear there is additional parking at East, does that mean I can park right there if I can find a spot? If not, where do I park?
Any suggestions or comments?
Hopefully someone can help!
Thanks!

Do you mean Hume East? I don't think just "East Hall" exists. I could be wrong though.

Don't know. Usually people cut shower curtain in half ( if they do use one).

Toasters are not in there. If you want, you can bring one, but you can only use it in the kitchen (fire safety rules).

No, you can check one out at the front desk with a 'area card'

The one thats in front of east hall is orange decal only. The one you would use is the one by simpson hall (red decal).

Thanks that helped quite a bit! Anyone else know anything extra?

Huma Garage is just down the street from East Hall so if you can't find parking by Simpson, then you don't really have to go far to park your car.

Megmurph, did you choose East Hall or did you just get put there? My DS will be in East this fall -- it was his first pick because of the engineering community there.

It was my second choice but I am fine with it...do you know anything about...anything there?

I'll be in East in the hall as well, so I appreciate any info.

East Hall is in a great location. Gator Dining Center is less than 5 minutes away. The Swamp and the O'Connel center are less than 10 minutes away. Classes aren't that far, but if you are lazy, a bunch of buses run in the area towards the The Hub and Turlington Plaza. The SW Rec Center is only a bus ride away.

Oh, I think the best part of East Hall is Mud Fest. Mud Fest is basically a bunch of games played in a mud put in between Weaver Hall [connected to East Hall] and Riker Hall [connected to North Hall]. Games include volleyball, soccer, tug of war, etc. It is a great rivalry week between each floor in each Hall. I forget which dorms participate but it is only those in the area. Hope this helps.

Does anyone know anything about refrigerators? I am thinking I could buty a used one when I get up to Gainesville from someone who doesn't need theirs anymore but how do I go about that? Do they put up bulletins or is their a website?
