Is it Harvard of the West or Stanford of the East?

Is it MIT of the West or the Caltech of the East?

Is it Boston University of the West or Berkeley of the East?

You be the judge.

Rooster, what are you talking about? I think you mean is it the Harvard of the west or Berkeley of the east

yeah... boston university is a private school, and not close to berkeley's caliber. i'd compare it to nyu.

He's so dumb in his posts, that its difficult to make any sense of what he says. He is a cross between Hooked on Phonics and Ritchie Rich on crack.

Yeah, uh, rooster? It just goes to show how little you really know about UC-B if you'd ever compare it to Boston U...

Get thee to thy own thread.

Berkelely might not be better than Harvard, but stanfurd isn't either. Notice how you'll never here anyone over at Harvard say, "hey, we're the stanfurd of the east!!" No, they say, "Stanfurd? Isn't that a Junior University?"

I would say that Berkeley is the Princeton of the West. It is third best after Stanford and Caltech.

i just remembered the episode from the Simpsons, where Bart and Homer tease Lisa, " You're going to Stanford, You're going to Stanford!"

Yes, but the reason that was so funny is because Stanford is such a good school and isn't ivy-league. I never heard them mention Berkeley even once. Not once on the show.

Lisa: "Thanks everybody, now I'll never get into an Ivy League school."
Bart: (taunting) You're going to stanfurd, you're going to stanfurd...
Homer joins in : You're going to stanfurd!
Lisa: Take it back! Take it back!
Homer: Stanfurd.
Lisa: This family has hit rock bottom.

David X. Cohen, who served as a writer for The Simpsons for almost five years before creating Futurama has a master's degree in computer science from UC Berkeley.

J. Stewart Burns received his master's degree in mathematics from UC Berkeley in 1993. He began writing for The Simpsons in 2002 after working on Futurama.

Hmm...is that joke really about how great stanfurd is?
