Does anyone have any experience/information about this school? I just applied yesterday. It seems to be a great fit, although it’s very small.
Did you apply because you got a free app? Are you an evangelical Christian?
If so, look into Houghton, Grove City, Hope, Messiah, Eastern, and Moravian… or, further away, Point Loma Nazarene.
If you’re Catholic, look into Siena, St Bonaventure, Lemoyne.
It’s indeed very small, with not many resources, which would indicate relatively few class choices, especially since the faculty:student ratio is rather high for a private. However, it does graduate 45% students in 4 years, which is not bad for a school that takes students who typically have a 3.0GPA/1500CR+M+W combined SAT.
@MYOS1634 My GC recommended it, and it seemed a good match. The free app made me think “why not”?
I’m Christian. Is the school close-minded about other denominations? 20 days of church per semester is required.
Do you know of any schools in the Boston or Providence areas that give generous aid or are low-cost?
Thanks! My SAT is a bit under 1500, but GPA is a 3.3, so I think I’ll have a good chance.
Well, it’s primarily an evangelical Christian college. So, while they’re not strictly close-minded about other denominations, people who are Jewish or Muslim would like be very uncomfortable with the environment because they’d be considered “unsaved”. It’s a college for kids who are serious about growing in their faith and have religion as the center of their life, can imagine working as a missionary for instance. 20 days of church means every Sunday + once more during half the semester. But the overall academic record is okay - so if you’re fine with the religious and behavior requirements why not?
You could indeed apply test-optional to Drew (it means: don’t send your score - but spend a lot of time on your essays). It’s an excellent college. Probably a reach academically but if you apply test optional and spend time on essays, you could have a shot at admission. My worry would be cost - run the NPC.
It’s going to be hard to beat Montclair and Stockton for price, so if you have other offers you’ll have to compare what else these other colleges offer that Montclair or Stockton don’t: smaller class sizes? better support service? quality of career center?
You could try for NJIT - they have a school of management, Information Science (with for instance a minor in human/computer interaction), plus liberal arts&science. If you’re interested in social sciences, you should find some fields with applied opportunities.
