Hi, i'm a junior and i've already completed most of my requirements for graduating and the recommended class for UCs. Including:

Math up to Calculus BC
4 years of science: H Bio, Chem, AP phys., AP Chem
3 yrs English: 2 H class, 1 reg in junior yr.
2 yrs history, AP US, AP world
1 yr music history
2 yrs PE
And other minor req. that i must of missed, except princ of econ./gov. and english 4.

I was wondering if i take easy clases during my senior year if it would effect my admission to UCs because since i already finished my the recomended requirements for UCs and by the time you send your resume senior year is probably jus starting. I plan to take a home period, fun electives, english, and princples of econ./gov't.

UC admissions is getting harder and harder every year. U don’t think your competition have already finished their requirements as well?? But they’ll stack themselves with APs and honors courses their Senior year – and get lots of As. That list is the minimum to even apply. While you’ll have an obvious lax schedule – is this what you want to submit to the UCs? If so, don’t be surprised if you get few if any offers.

I didn’t just get the “minimum” i did the “recommended for UCs” on the A-G list. Also i’ve heard that they do not use senior year for admission purposes, but for rejection purposes. I know a friend who had a easy schedule senior year and got into UCR (Which is the college i want to get into) and by the time you send in your application to the college you’ll probably accepted by beginning of 2nd semester of senior year.

Adcoms are wary of kids who slack off senior year. Do so at your own risk.

At my school, most seniors have only an English credit left to complete, but that hardly means kids take only English and slack off in every other arena.

I thought UCs don’t take senior years grades into account? I could be TOTALLY WRONG ON THIS so don’t quote me.

Edit: I mean I don’t think they look at your class schedule or rigor. If you are waitlisted or want to appeal, then they do look at them, but I don’t think they take it into account during the admissions process.

I’m lost here… hasn’t this been answered numerous times in this thread already? Good or bad: we’re indifferent. It’s your life. Do what you want. 4 posters took time to answer you and it seems they think it’ll severely diminish your chances for a very competitive UC system. You seem to think differently. C’est la vie.

Here’s something: It won’t hurt your chances one iota. Everyone’s doing it. Relax.
