Looking for an easy class to fill out my Freshman schedule. Taking chem, english 1102 and clt3378?,,,,,,planning on pledging so I want to have a somewhat easier semester the first of my Freshman year. Any suggestions?

I’ve been advised that World Geography is not too bad.

ugh,i have a history…how about nutrition? Does anyone have any info on that?

My daughter will be a sophomore this year. She has consistently heard that nutrition is one of the hardest classes at FSU. She’s heard its a class you don’t take unless it’s a requirement. World geography is a social science course, not a history class. Easy classes she has taken so far are general psychology, psy2012, and the mandatory computer fluency class, cgs2060.

The dietician and nutrition courses and majors are not as easy as some people think. The majors require taking pretty hard courses like organic chemistry. Too, a surprisingly high percentage of the nutrition and dietician majors are pre-med students who push the bar up for everyone else with them being so competitive working for good grades.

Im a nursing major and have to take it but its suggested for sophmore year…I have so many things that are completed by AP/Clep/Aice/testing that Im struggling to find easy electives to fill in while I take bio, chem , anatomy, microbio…need something that will fill in this semester so I have time to focus on chem1032

GEO1000- World Geography, as SweetheartCroc mentioned, is insanely easy (especially if you have the online version with Julie). Plus, Balinsky is teaching one of the sections of the class this Fall, and he is extremely easy as a professor.

CGS2060- Computer Fluency, as Wallacefl mentioned, is also really easy. If it is one of the options for your major for the computer competency credit you may need, I’d recommend it as well.

HUM2210 and HUM2235 are really easy classes as well. If your major requires any Humanities credits, you could take one (or both) of them and probably knock out that requirement. Also HUM3321- Multicultural Film is very easy as well.

I would recommend looking up what requirements for your major you still need to meet, and taking a class that satisfies some of those requirements. You’re already taking Ancient Mythology, which is really easy and meets like 4 different requirements.

Im taking hum3321 right now for summer and sociology. thank you for the help.

If you don’t have credit for it, STA2122- Intro to Statistics is really easy, too, and it looks to be something that fills one of the Nursing requirements.

I have credit for stats and psychology

If I were you, I would take nutrition. I took it my freshman year and got an A in it with the same professor who taught the honors version of it (I was in the Pre-Health LLC and we were required to take 1 or 2 courses, I chose nutrition). I believe she retired this year, though.

I’m also a nursing major at FSU, and was admitted in March to begin the program this fall. A&P 1 + 2 as well as the labs with Dr. Su are going to probably going to be your toughest courses. Microbio also will not be that easy, if you had the same professor I did in Spring 2012…his English is very difficult to understand.

Like Pasbal said, Ancient Myth is really easy. English 1102 should also be pretty easy. If you’ve taken Chemistry in high school, then CHM1032 might be easy. With a minimum of 2 easy classes, I’d recommend that you take nutrition this fall, or even in spring if you don’t have many difficult courses!

P.S. Are you already in the nursing program? I know they changed the admissions process to admitting freshman…just wondering! If so, do you have to keep a certain GPA to remain in the program?

Yes, Im already admitted to Nursing and I have to keep my sciences up to a 3.0. Im not crazy about chem. Received a B in highschool. But I did have it and also had AP bio and Honors Bio so Im prepared, it wont be new to me but Im just not wanting to overload myself with writing so that if I decide to pledge, I will have time to do well.

I was thinking chem1032, nutrition, clt3378 and eng1102. What do you think?

I think you’ll be fine! You were admitted to the nursing program, which is competitive, so I am sure that you will be up to par! 4 courses won’t be so bad :)

A suggestion to consider. Sign up for both nutrition and cgs 2060 and then during the drop/add period decide which courses to keep. That way you will have the opportunity to go to each class, review the syllabus, and determine the work load for each class. Just remember to drop the class you don’t want before drop/add ends (Aug 30th). You will also know how rush works out for you by then.

World Geography is GEA1000, not GEO1000.

Someone mentioned Statistics. I wouldn’t call that an easy class. Maybe I took a different version of Statistics, but I remember it being incredibly time-consuming.

You’re right, it is GEA instead of GEO. My bad!

Intro to Statistics is an extremely easy class, especially if you have a good professor for it. I’d go so far as to say that it was one of my least time-consuming classes I’ve taken at FSU. But that very well could have been because of my professor, who didn’t assign homework aside from the study guide and notes.

I mentioned it though because it’s a class that was easy and fulfilled one of the Nursing pre-reqs. If you’re filling your schedule with easy classes, might as well try and snag one that fills up some requirements while you’re at it.

Thank you pascal, but I passed the AP on that one so its done and I passed the AP on Psychology so that is done also. This is why Im asking for fillers.
