I'm looking to take an easy class next semester. I've taken Wildlife Issues, Intro to Astronomy, and Exceptional People, but I need one more. Thanks

UF is an easy college.

period.

Going to have to agree with jdjaguar in general. Some classes aren't easy, but by far most classes are curved around a B+.

I am guessing that you need an "easy A" to balance out some other difficult classes that you don't think you will do as well in. It depends on what Gen Ed credit you have left to fulfill. For an easy H credit, try ORI2000, Oral Performance of Literature. For an easy (but still work) English class, try ENC 2210, Technical Writing. It is usually not tough to get an A in AND very useful (since you learn how to make professional documents like resumes and cover letters etc. ). For an easy science class (I think it is B) take FOS2001, Man's Food. Everyone I know, did really well in that class.

Jdjaguar is simply a fool who doesn't know what he's talking about. Gthopeful, same deal, I've never had a class curved to a B+, ever.

@seiclan: I'm looking at taking PHY2054 (Physics 2), BCH4024 (Biochemistry), ENC2210 (Technical Writing), and I'd like an extra easy class. All of my General Education requirements are finished and I don't have too many required courses left to go, so I just need one more space filler. Man's Food sounds ok, but I know UF College of Medicine knows how easy it is. Also, who did you take ENC2210 with? Also, do you know if they post ENC2210 classes late? Somehow EVERY class is full on ISIS, despite not many people having registration dates.

destroy.....a little too much, don't you think?

So. They are going to care about overall GPA and MCAT more than that one class.

Class gets full early. Every class has a different teacher, so its not something you can pick and choose. You have to continually search to find a class. It took me two weeks when I took it.

Maybe you can look into a psych (behavioral, cultural, developmental) , anthro (bio, skeleton keys, gen), or sociology (med) class. Man's food and theater appreciation are easy classes. 4024 is all memorization and 2054 takes some time if physics isnt your subject, so you 4th classes doesn't have to be easy, easy.

My daughter took ENC 2210 online through the UF distance courses (since she started it over the summer) and YOU CAN TOO. It is a very easy class to do online since you do it at your own pace. The online teacher for it is very good, helpful, and my daughter got an A.
Here is the link to all the online ENC 2200 distance class:

ASMAJ are you sure about the overall GPA deal? I agree that they probably don't have enough time to search transcripts with a fine-toothed comb, but I don't know. I'm currently applying to UF JHMP, so we'll see how that goes. I also have a 4.0 right now (which I'm hoping to keep all 4 years) and recently took a PR free MCAT and received a 34 (unstudied). If I don't get get into the JHMP I'll be looking to hopefully go to a top 20 medical school with, hopefully, at least a 38 MCAT score.

ASMAJ, I also remember you making some posts about premed courses and was wondering if you had any of those old 4024 exams people say make the class easier.

Thanks

Yeah the trend for med school admissions seem to be all about numbers. High overall gpa, science gpa, and mcat. I have a lot of friends that had a much easier time getting into medical school by doing an easy major such as nutrition, psych, anthro, and health sciences compared to the ones that did engineering/hard sciences. Once you have the numbers then they look at EC's and everything else. They know mans food is easy, but I it wont kill an application.

How are your EC's for JHMP? I know they are very big on research experience. I know some people in the program and they definitely like it. No worries about MCAT, like other similar programs.

If you are really worried about mans food, maybe you could take a class from one of the three categories in the past post. Physiological psychology (or behavioral neuroscience), medical sociology, and forensic anthropology (or Skeleton Keys) are good classes. If you feel comfortable, maybe genetics, microbiology, or eukaryotic cell structure. It might get you better use to a heavier course load. Not sure if you looks at the UF med website, but you will be taking a lot of time consuming classes at once, so might want to build up the endurance now. However, I understand that you want to keep your GPA high, so it your decision.

Good luck with JHMP.

Thanks ASMAJ. Isn't Eukaryotic Cell Structure BCH5XXX? I was thinking about taking that for a biochemistry elective. Also, would you still happen to have the old 4024 exams that I hear everyone talking about?

My EC's are solid, significantly above the average for SAT, no one can really be too far above the average GPA though. I haven't done any research at all yet, but I know I have 3 very very good professor recommendations and I was just accepted to the UCSF Amgen Scholars Program (1000+ applications for 25 spots, 40+ hrs/week of research with a UCSF Professor for 9 weeks). I'm hoping to at least get an interview. They say that decisions regarding interviews come out by April 15th, but the person who was inputting all of the information into the computer told me that I should know by the end of March. Also, while I was turning my application in to the office, I saw her checking the boxes off by name on the Excel sheet and I also saw people whose names were completely highlighted yellow on Excel (and this was a week before everything was due). All three of my professors said, without me asking anything, that the program would be nuts not to at least interview me and beyond that it was up to me. So right now, all I want is an interview.

Your probably thinking of Eukaryotic Molecular Biology and Genetics (BCH5413). I was suggesting Eukaryotic Cell Structure (PCB3134). The link to one of the professors: index

Is the Amgen acceptance in your file? If not, I would write an update letter to be added to your application. Also include a description for the committee members that might not know what Amgen is. Most should know already.

As for the test, I have around 5 but the rest were passed on after the class.

Would you be able to send me them or I could buy them off you?

And yes, I sent an email to them today about the program. I figured it couldn't hurt and that this was one of the few cases that merited an update letter.

Although, unrelated to the original post, in regards to UF being an easy school with B+ curved averages, maybe it happens in other departments but I sure as hell know it’s not CISE or EE, I’m a computer engineering major. I’m wondering what classes you’re referring to, because the only class I’ve encountered with a curve like that would be Physics 2 w/calc, and that’s because the average on those tests is about 50%, and the professors intentionally make it so. As for all the I’ve encountered, I’ve seen a ton of very difficult professors who’ve caused worse horror stories than I’ve heard from any of the kids that went anywhere else, with teachers who’ve dropped/failed over 60-70% of the class. This has happened in 3 of my classes thus far, and I know one Comp Sci. teacher who out of a class of originally 80 students, 50 dropped, and 15 failed, so if you want to call that easy, I’d like to know your definition of difficult. Just my two cents.

Geography of Africa is a pretty easy class.

Wildlife Issues

COM 1000. I got a 98%. I rarely skipped class because it was actually sort of fun! Also ANT 2000. My class was taught by a (hot) grad student and all of the exams were online.

I am starting UF this fall as a Freshman. I am currently undecided and have no idea what to take. I definitely would like to stay away from the maths and sciences my first semester. What general classes do you recommend with easy professors?

jdjaguar, hopefully you do not attend an Ivy League because it would be extremely disappointing
to think that they have people like you there, who are unable to just answer a question objectively. The question was not about UF’s educational quality, so next time please be careful before judging a school with more than 40000 students and repeatedly named among the best schools in Florida. PERIOD.

Try Man’s Food or Human Sexuality. Those were super easy A’s. There’s also Intro to Music Lit.
