Anyone took any "easy" classes that fulfill the RE or HU requirement? Thanks a lot.

Econ, history, psychology, philosophy… there are a lot of courses in these that I would consider “easy”. I would pick a course that you’re interested cause in the end, these classes don’t demand much.

Related question… Is Econ really easy? People tell me that 101 is hard, though I wouldn’t be surprised to hear it’s a weeder class. How about ones like 401, 402, and math intensive ones like 406 and 409?

Also… How about stats classes? Is that generally an easy department? Are there specific very hard classes?

For Engineers, Econ 101 is generally easy especially winter semester after all the business school students have taken it. Upper level Econ really depends on if you understand the concepts or not and the teacher you have. I’ve heard some people hating 401/402 and others that really like it. Stats 350 is one of the easiest courses that you can take in the Statistics department but some upper level stats courses are not going to be that hard.

Just don’t take Econ 101 in the fall. It’s not horrendous like everyone makes it out to be (I’m doing meh for other reasons), but if you’ve got a simpler option, why not take it?

ECON 101 isn’t a bad class for engineers. I finished it this semester and I didn’t find it as bad as some people made it out to be, as much as I did freak out over the summer. Basically, if you think logically, you should be fine if you pull your own weight in the class … show up in lectures, vaguely paying attention to the prof, doing the homework, take the homework quizzes, and doing the practice tests. The bell curve actually helps you … an 85% grade average got you an A in Gerson’s/Malone’s section this semester.

econ is really easy… this apply to all courses. the reason why there are rumors about them being hard is because there is a significant proportion of econ majors who are math illiterates
101, 102 are easy and that’s self explanatory.
401, 402 are both really really easy if you can think logically and mathematically, which a lot of econ majors cant…

99% of the social science and humanities classes in the LSA are ridiculously easy too in terms of both workload and grading

Okay, thanks guys. Anyone know about ones like 406 and 409 as well?

As for stats classes, I’m specifically looking at classes like 403, 406, and 415.
