Easy classes

Hey guys im going to be a freshman this fall and would really appreciate it if any current students would recommend any "easy A" GE classes (writing, arts and humanities, social sciences, ect) to take this year to get a high gpa. Thanks!!

The easiest class I have taken is Psych 7A with Lofgren for a GE (I think it was a category III). It isn’t like you can do nothing though, you still have to read the chapters assigned and so forth

Anything in Social Sciences, Humanities, Arts, and Business.

Thanks guys :D

I second the Lofgren suggestion. Except IMO, you shouldn’t even get the book. I got an A+ and spent a maximum of 9 hours on that class (3 hrs per exam). That time was spent on memorizing lists of all possible (basically all with a few exceptions) exam questions she hands out before the exams. The answers can all be found on Google. I did not go to a single discussion section.

It’s not that her class was bad. It was really interesting! There was just no work to be done lol. Also, her endless extra credit opportunities guarantees you an A, unless you’re really, really, REALLY lazy.

alright cool. Also, have u heard anything about how difficult it is to transfer from UCI to UCSD/LA/Berkeley? I was thinking of possibly transferring provided my gpa is high enough.

^It depends on your major. Because you have lower priority than applicants coming from community college (UCLA claims to give equal consideration to transfer students coming from other UCs), it will be very hard to get into the more competitive programs (Berkley’s business program, Biology at UCSD, ect). Applying for a major that requires an audition or portfolio is also a crapshoot.

GPA is important but finishing pre-requisite courses should be your greatest concern. Next, you should focus on finishing all of UCI’s GE’s by the spring quarter of your second year (so right before you transfer). This will guarantee that you don’t have to worry about Berkley/SD/LA’s GE requirements.

While ECs don’t matter as much from transferring, They still matter. What you do in your summer and free time is a reflection of who you are both to a future college and to future employers. You should actually have some sort of strategic purpose to what you do. Joining a frat is not strategic as it does not convey any valuable qualities - becoming president of that frat might though(with that said it’s less work/time and generally easier to become leader of a club relevant to your interests/studies)

What gets looked at
prereq
GPA
GE completion
ECs

I want to say that the admissions people probably go down a list in order for those things. You get diminishing returns past the point of “good enough”. Prereqs are vital though, you should finish every single one of them.

Thanks again for the assistance.
