Easy FAST way to get essay examples

Do you guys think it is a good idea to use movies as examples in Essays?
Yes, I know a few good books and historical events that can fit in most essays, but just in case I cant I come across one, I am thinking it might be a good idea to watch some powerful movies. I mean they will be way easier to complete and memorize than books and it would be fun.

Some movies I have in mind are:
Blood Diamonds
Last King of Scotland
Hotel Rwanda
Children of Men
Shawshank Redemption

I just want to know if it might seem a little childish to use a movie as an example.

If you think it is a good idea, please list some powerful movies that I should watch :)

How about the Truman Show... That has some fairly deep underlying messages about questioning our authority...

You can pretty much use any example, as long as the example is in depth.
You could even use Pokemon and get a 12.

;)
gotta catch em all.

ok, so I guess this is a good idea.

Anything with Tom Hanks or Morgan Freeman..?

lol I would use Paris Hilton as a sexy and scandal model :P

I used her on this practice prompt about "celebrity status leads to happiness" didn't work out so well =</p>

Maybe she is a bit too scandalous

It's the writing that matters.. not the examples.. i mean seriously, why do you think some people who use personal examples manage to get 12s? I mean, CB have no way of confirming that the events actually happened in real life? So they just accept the example... it's the writing that counts. If you write well, you can even talk about how you dream of being a pokemon trainer.

^ LMFAO at "talk about how you dream of being a pokemon trainer."...but yeah, is it all right (like do they penalize you for) to use personal examples? Because I've heard that it's not as good as literary and historical ones. I mean if personal examples are acceptable, then by all means, I'll be using them cuz imo they are much MUCH easier to come up with than literary/historical ones.

Movies aren't bad, but I've watches WAY too many movies to pick which one will fit with the prompt on test day...books on the other hand, lol, I've read WAY too few (only ones that school require) to pick :/

uhh.. no such thing.. do you not remember so many ppl who wrote generic essays and got 12s? Vadox, took the SAT first time, used the literary example stuff... spent too much time thinking and stuff and only had a 9 on the essay i believe(1860 total) .... 2nd time, he went in carefree, wrote a generic essay with personal examples.. got a 12 (2320 total) ........ ya.. and some other dude.. i forget wrote 2 pages on 1 example... about how his life changed from farmlife to city life and he noticed changes in societies (thats what the prompt was about)...... and he had an 11..... which was amazing since he never lived in a farm and made up the whole thing...

KeepRolling ,LOL i laughed in rl reading your posts xD

i think you could claim these movies are books if you are afraid of any possible backlash, hahaha.

If you wanted, you could use the story from the movie as your example, and then just say its from "insert fake book name here" by "insert fake author name here."

Well, yeah I could make up an example from my personal life but when I do that it never seems powerful. I averaged about a 6 when i did that
I guess I just dont know how to word personal experiences.

When using literary/historical examples I averaged about a 10, because I didnt have to make up things as i went. I noticed that for some essays I had no **real **examples I could use, hence i thought movies were good way of getting some in quick!

Claim the movie was a book..heheheh
nice, well they do just skim through it, might as well.
I might just try that

Thanks kidwithshirt, ill just go look for some Morgan Freeman movies....and what is that other guys name? Host of The Twilight Zone..
