Do you guys know which 400-level IOE courses are the easiest?

All of them

:D

But for real I just took 425 and it wasn’t hard at all.

None of the ones I’ve taken have been very hard. I’m in 425 right now and I can’t really tell how hard it will be to get any particular grade yet, but it’s kind of annoying. There’s a quiz every week due before class (very easy to forget) and there’s just all sorts of little things you have to know for the exam. It’s pretty hard in that there’s no math or anything like that, you just gotta memorize stuff.

416, 441, 419, 460 are all pretty easy. I’d say that 419 is the only one of those that really took any effort, but was still not that hard. 419 is a good class though, it’s pretty interesting. The exams for the others are very much just template problems, to an extent 419 is also but it’s not as ridiculous as the others.

Vlad, that’s how I felt about the first exam too. But then I got my grade back and did way better than I thought. Most people were the same way. They are just really lax in the grading.

The quizzes are annoying but easy. Just open the reading next to you and control f the info you need.

Also, important! For the online courses you need 2 original responses and 4 replies. Everyone thought it was 2 and 2. I had to email the GSI (like a week ago). I was asking for a bump to an A- (I was right on the edge) and I found out since I only had 4 posts instead of 6 thats why I was down. I pointed out the syllabus sucked and he changed my grade. Idk if the syllabus was changed though

Are IOE 515 and OIE 516 hard?

Ugh. We already did this. They told us verbally that the replies were due on Wednesday before class, but failed to mention that the original responses were due Tuesday at 8am. I go to do them Wednesday morning and see that I’m too late. I did the 4 replies but didn’t do the 2 original responses.

As I said, just a million little things that are due all the time.

Depends where your strengths are but most people find them at least somewhat difficult. They’re not trivial classes by any stretch if that’s what you’re trying to glean but I can’t help you much more than that.

Dude, they closed the forum? That sucks. I got posts due at 5 on Friday in at 4am Saturday before and it was good.

The exams are a bunch of dumb info. On the final you need to know all the parts of the House Of Lean. I put Kaizen in like six spots, people in three, some kanbans, etc. I figured I blew that exam. It was 100 points and that problem was like 17 points plus the 5 point explanation about the history of it right after. I left that blank. I walked out with an 86% though, idk how. The straight scale kind of sucks too

Is the material for 425 even interesting? I thought lean manufacturing was supposed to be a hot topic in IOE. Have you guys taken 438? I’m thinking about doing 438 instead of 425.

Also what is the workload like for tech com 380?

no, the material in 425 is not interesting. i wouldn’t considering lean manufacturing a “hot topic”.

the workload in TC 380 depends on your writing abilities

OK I see.

What is the difficulty and workload of IOE 419 like? Is it an extension of IOE 310?

Oh god, why would anyone want to take a Tech Comm class?

it’s a requirement… don’t mech engr have a tech comm requirement as well?

Tech Comm is part of classes we do, like our lab courses and stuff. But we dont have just a Tech Comm course.

I know at least IOE and EECS have dedicated TechComm classes so that’s already most of the engineering school.

Can someone please describe the workload, difficulty and their overall experience of IOE 463 (Measurement & Design of Work) and IOE 466 (Statistical Quality Control)?

Im considering taking these courses in Winter 2014.

I’d really appreciate it!

Hey! Did you end up taking IOE 466? I was thinking about taking it and wondering about the workload and difficulty
