Easy (maybe stupid) question re: PA state College acceptance

My son applied to one of the PA state U's (Millersville, Kutztown, IUP tier) and all he has heard back was a letter giving him a password and network id. We found a place to plug in the password and id, but it doesn't seem to lead anywhere secret, private or helpful. Full disclosure, my husband apparently decided that the paper that had these codes on them was general college spam mail and threw it away. Son had to get in touch with the college to get the codes e-mailed to him, but they came without the rest of the letter, which probably had some more clues on it.

For anyone that has been accepted from one of our state colleges in this group (NOT Pitt, PSU, etc) how were you notified and is there a reason they sent these codes to us? I'm guessing there is a portal to check on status somewhere but darned if I can find it.

Doesn’t each school’s webpage have some kind of MySchool portal?

Can’t you call admissions and ask?

For Kutztown.

Call the phone number under help and support (right column)
HOOKUP

(610) 683-1511

mom2colleges, If there was a link labeled “portal” I would have found it. I have looked at every single admissions page on their site and, um, yes I can call but I already feel silly because we lost the paper that says clearly, “put this in a safe place” and “important”, etc. The link you sent, while very informative is clearly for current and new students. Thank you for it.

Son does NOT know if he’s accepted. I realize that calling admissions and pleading stupidity would be the fastest way to find out the location of this secret portal and then if he’s accepted, but thought perhaps there would be another parent out there that actually kept the paper that could help…

^^^ “Hook up” ??? Really ??

You might try calling some of your son’s classmates who’ve applied to these same schools.

If it was kutztown, follow these instructions and go to https://portal.kutztown.edu

http://it.dept.kutztown.edu/pdf/accounts/setting_up_net_id_and_security.pdf

Try the same trick for the college domain name for whatever other college it was and maybe that will work. (I Googled it.)

Thanks MidwestMom, We’ve gone there, even changed the password, but once through it didn’t seem to say anything about being accepted or “Welcome!” I guess I’ll just get son to e-mail the help desk.

Maybe the message that says Welcome will change to “Your application is complete”? Good luck. :)
