hi, I'm an incoming freshman and to get to the point, i HATE anything science-y.
i hoping to get either of the science breadth req's done with in my first semester
so please recommend easy and light courses that wont remind me of my nightmarish physics days!
I took IB physics HL (the worst decision of my life). I wasn't good at it and i didn't enjoy it but we did cover a lot of material and in depth and if the breadth courses are easy enough that i should be able to survive with my IB knowledge, i'm willing to try something related to physics, but otherwise, i would like to stay away from it. Also, I'm pretty interested in human geography, the environment, etc., so please suggest some good env. science courses or anything related. If you can also suggest good profs, that would be awesome too.

p.s. i'm sorry if i'm somehow offending people who enjoy sciences! =P

You’re asian and also happen to hate science? OH NO!!! All my stereotypes have been broken haha

There is a class called physics for presidents. It doesn’t deal with much math but instead applies physics to problems like global warming. You might want to look into it :)

plant and microbial biology 13 is embarrassingly easy. It’s a waste of time, but if you’re looking just to get something out of the way, pmb13 usually gives around 97% A+ to A-. It involves a midterm and final, and 4 short papers of 2 pages each, all of which are easy to do.

i just finished taking eps 80 and HATED IT. we just did presentations and talked about soil. didn’t learn anything. guess that’s what i get for taking a “science” course in an L&S department. But I think you’ll like it. Any of the above suggestions will do since none of them are real science classes anyway.

and yes, physics for future presidents is a joke. I was taking Math 54 and we had the same room for the final. They breezed through their final in less than half the time while our half of the room was still straining our brains trying to solve partial differential equations.

if i pair these “joke” classes for my phys/bio breadth reqs with econ 1 and math 1a, would it be a pretty ok first semester at berkeley? I’m just worried about taking 2 science courses at the same time, but if they are really easy and are more environment - geography heavy (which im pretty knowledgeable in) it should be ok right?

no problem.
and just in case u still don’t get it, there is NO math involved in those courses. you’ll most likely be writing essays on how to fight global warming, save the environment, etc…
