Easy Physics Question...?

Wait, i see, i misread. All comments up to now of mine were made assuming we were searching for final speed. Initial in terms of y should be 215/sqrt(y/4.9)

Which i now see is exactly what you just did, but i solved for Vi. huh. I vote impossible.

ah. yeah, i'm inclined to agree. gah, my physics teacher deserves, in the words of Huck Finn, the "everlasting fire" -_-

thanks tomas and JeNeSaisQuoi (<--- you need a nickname, it takes way too long to type that) for helping, i really appreciate it

Y = Y' + Vt + 1/2 at^2

Y = 0 + 0 + 1/2 (9.8)t^2
Y = 4.9t^2

t = sqrt(Y/4.9)

X = ((V + V')/2)t
215 = (V/2)(sqrt(y/4.9)
48.56 = V*sqrt(y)

48.56/sqrt(y) = V, but I don't know what good that does you.

-I vote for impossible w/out use of variables in the answer.

*yes I do need a nick name! none of my friends at school have ever given me one, except two of my friends, but they're only used on occasion. My real name is Ashley: nick names: Ashums, Ashamalee (but don't use those, they're so random).
