Easy QR Class

Does anyone know what I can take to fulfill the QR requirement? For example, there's a freshman seminar called Water: Keystone for Development. Does anyone know anything about it? There's also a course called Computers in our World that seems okay. Any other ideas? (PS I like politics/international relations)

I know someone who took Water, and it barely used any math. The main grades were essays. But the grading wasn’t any easier than other essay based courses. Computers in our World, also known as Introduction to the On Button, is probably a better bet. Plus it’s usually taught by Brian Kernighan, who I’m told is pretty famous.

Would I be better off taking Water as I’m going to try to go for the Woodrow Wilson School? Do they look that closely at your course selection?

I’d say no unless you’re really interested in sustainability and plan to write your WWS application essay on it.

Okay, thanks. :)

If you want WWS, I’m pretty sure that they require a stats class, which should be a QR.

WWS has a required stats course, but it isn’t a QR! (Goodness, I knew the WWS stats wasn’t very quantitative, but this was a surprise even to me. WWS 333 is filed under SA. I took ORF 245 which is a QR).

“By the end of their junior year, concentrators and certificate students must take WWS 333, Claims and Evidence, or one of the following courses: WWS 332, Advanced Quantitative Analysis for Public Policy; ORF 245, Fundamentals of Engineering Statistics; MAT 310, Mathematical Statistics; ECO 312, Econometrics: A Mathematical Approach; ECO 313, Econometric Applications.”

Here are a list of all the available QRs for fall semester: http://registrar1.princeton.edu/course/upcome/area/all.cfm

I’ve also had friends who said good things about Computers in Our World. However, I do recommend ORF 245 as a good stats class. You can also take WWS 332, Advanced Quantitative Analysis for Public Policy, as a QR though it does require some background knowledge of statistics.

yes, Ive heard that computers course also referred to as “introduction to sending an e-mail”. Your labs often consist of editting wikipedia pages.

Really, I thought it was called “Email for females” in the non-PC vein of rocks for jocks and stars for stoners.

It’s a good class though, and I think you learn some useful computer skills.

AH YES. i was grasping for something- and that was it. thank you.

If you’re a freshman do a freshman seminar QR. They’re usually jokes.

Yeah, but you’re stuck in a QR Freshman seminar for 3 hours a week. :open_mouth: Gag me.
