I'm starting as a freshman for summer c but I'm having trouble thinking of classes I want to take. I have micro¯o economics, English 1, college algebra, environmental, world & us history and possibly english 2 and government (depending on ap scores). I'm in the honors program but I'm nervous to start off tooo challenging. My orientation is a little less than a week away and I want to look up good professors on ratemyprofessor hah any advice for easy/good classes to take that haven't already been taken would be greatly appreciated. My major is currently exploratory if that helps.

CLT3378 (I recommend Branscombe) is a pretty interesting class. One comment I read on ratemyprofessors said something akin to “If you don’t get an A in this class, you must be wearing a helmet” and it was pretty accurate. A large number of people somehow get Cs and Bs though since they’ve moved the mark for an A to a 94, but since you’re in the honors program I assume you have enough common sense.
CGS2100/2060 (2100 is for business majors and 2060 is for all, but I’d recommend 2100 if you can get into it just because you might decide on a business major and even if you don’t, 2100 covers 2060 credit but not vice versa) - It’s a reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaelly easy A unless the only thing you know about a computer is where the power button is located. All of the assignments are laid out for you step by step, and a good 20 minute cram session of the provided study guide (don’t buy the book as it’s a waste of money) will net you a B or an A on the tests which is all you need for an A in the class due to the easy-A assignments. Oh and I recommend taking it online although you only have to attend the first class if you sign up for a lecture anyway. You can still go in to attend any lectures as an online student (one class I recommend going to is the random one in which he goes over how to put together a computer right before telling you that you don’t have to do this and won’t be tested on it).

sorry for the wall of text-ish post…

Wow okay thank you so much that’s very helpful. Any other recommendations of classes & professors?

I am a bit biased in that I enjoyed the course when I took it with this professor (plus it was REALLY easy to get an A in the class), but I have to recommend MET1010 with Professor Ruscher if you are at all science-oriented.

He’s a bit climate-change dependent, and there was a bit of reading in the class (don’t let the listing of like 6 textbooks throw you. Most are cheap, like $5-10, and you might only use them for reference or for reading about 20-30 pages. He does focus on climate change a good bit (it’s the main focus of the course), and when I took it you had to watch An Inconvenient Truth for the extra credit assignment, but aside from that if you didn’t get an A, it was amazing.
He made the grades heavily homework dependent, which was a category you could get something like 150% in, and have your overall grade be above a 100.

I have to second the CLT3378 Ancient Mythology suggestion (whether online or in the class) with Branscome. The class is REALLY easy, and the statement above about getting an A is accurate. When I took the class we had to write a research paper comparing a modern myth with one we covered in class, and I wrote my paper in the hour before class and got an A, and I pretty much just rambled about how one was similar to or different from the other, and I even miswrote something pretty big about the myth from class and still got an A.

I hope you find a class you enjoy, whether it’s one suggested here or another you find! :)
