Easy to answer will only take a minute––please.

Do I have to send answers to the other universities I was accepted to (NYU, Boston, other UCs, etc), or does it matter if i simply do not send them anything. will they just assume i am not attending?

You don’t have to send them anything. :)

It’s nice to send schools you’re not attending a simple letter saying you’re not going there. Saying why you’re not going there or where you’re going is optional, but the bother (especially the latter) and useful for the other schools to use to improve. Really, it doesn’t take long to write or email and let them know for sure your spot won’t be filled, and it leaves your high school on good terms with them for future applicants.

As a common courtesy just tell the schools you aren’t attending. Let hopeful people on the waitlist or appeals take the spot that you don’t want.

Also, if you’re no longer interested in a wailtlisted school please rescind your waitlist position. The admissions board won’t have to read an application of someone no longer interested. This also helps others on the waitlist who really want to get in.

just tell them ur not going… for UCs instead of submiiting ur SIR there is a thing that says that u will not attend… easY!

I didn’t because I thought I’d wake up, find it was all a dream and sent “sorry” letters to all the other colleges that had accepted me!

…it would be funny as hell to write the colleges you’re not attending a college-style rejection letter…

including such phrases as “large pool of outstanding colleges,” “wish I could attend all of the great colleges that accepted me,” and “I know you will have a highly successful academic year.”

although I think it’s already been done (albeit in response to one of their rejections, and never in response to an acceptance).

Many non UC’s schools include a decline card or note with their admissions letter. Only a few of the UC’s (UCSD, UCSC but not UCB ) seem to have decline buttons on their site.
