I'm thinking of attending UCLA (between there, USC, and UMCP), and I'm curious how about how easy it is to switch your majors before classes start. In my application I selected Biology and now, I'm thinking of switching it to computer science or some sort of bioengineering (is there one?). If anyone can describe the process, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Also, does UCLA require end of the year transcripts? My grades in the last quarter werent too great, and outlook isnt so good for this quarter either. What are their expectations for end of the year grades if they do require the trancript? Thanks in advance for any input you guys can give.

its hard to go from a l&s major to an engineering major. i think you can apply after the fall quarter

That's gonna be a bummer. Is it possible to know for sure if I can switch before I enroll in the school? I'm going to have a lot of AP credits coming in from high school, so hopefully I'll have some freedom in my freshman year, but it would suck to be stuck in something I'm not sure I'd be happy with. Anyone have any more input on this, or about the end of the year transcript thing?

I'll probably ask about it at the welcome day that I attend at the end of the week, but this could be the deal breaker between this and my other two schools if I can't be assured a major change. Thanks for the reply misterr.

i am totally in the same position as you...now i hate myself for not applying as an engineering major initially, but back then i wasn't so sure about it

oh, and you may have already seen this but according to their website:
"During your first quarter, you may apply to HSSEAS, and your admission will generally depend upon whether you would have been admitted if you had originally applied to HSSEAS."
