I want to apply to A&S but I think it might be easier for me to get in if I apply to engineering bc i'm a female minority who has won awards in computer science. a) Is the Engineering school harder to get into (aka is the competition really intense-like crazy math & science kids applying) & b) is it easy to switch schools?

im no expert, but i would say its not that much difference between getting in engineering adn A&S. Being a girl helps a lot engineering. I don’t think transferring is hard, unless you’re trying to transfer into Wharton, which is not easy (at all).

Apply where you want to be - trying to backdoor your way in through another school only leads to trouble.

Engineering and college are about the same. Transferring’s easy, but you really should just pick the department you want to be in, and avoid all the trouble that comes from trying to transfer. (It’s not difficult to transfer, but it’s much more difficult than switching between majors in one of the schools)

For 2011, the Engineering acceptance rate was around 22%, the Arts&Sciences acceptance rate was 16%.
