I was wondering if its easier to transfer into Penn sophomore year if you were admitted as a freshman but chose to go somewhere else instead. Judging by their transfer rates I wouldn’t think so but if anyone could shed some light on this it’d be helpful.

Why would you want to go somewhere else and then transfer to a college you were originally accepted at? That doesn't make much sense... Or are you thinking you should go to a community college for a year then transfer to save money? I'd say that is still quite absurd.

well I'm in a delimna as to which school I should choose this year, and I'm wondering if for some reason I don't pick penn I'm not happy with the school I choose, I can still have a decent chance of transfering to penn.

what other school are you considering with penn?

You would have to have a good reason for wanting to transfer. I don't think being accepted already would help or hurt you; the pros and cons would balance out.

yeah, I'm torn between Penn or Columbia, but now that I think about it, I don't think I'd really have a bad experience at either so I think I'll probably just stick with whatever I choose for the full 4 years

being admitted as a transfer, based on percentages, appears to be tougher.

yeah, i don't think you'd have a bad experience at both either. you should just stay the 4 years, because everything is what you make of it anyway. but as for me, i'd choose penn over any ivy :]
