Now I'm computer science major and finding any easy upper division class for making my upcoming semester easier.

Also, I'm from Japan, thus I speak Japanese perfectly. I would like to take Japanese upper division classes.
Is that counted towards 36 upper division units for graduating L&S?

yk0001-san, I hope you don’t intend to spread your nation’s imperialist doctrines throughout campus here at Berkeley. I must let you know that a good portion of Cal’s student body is Chinese (like myself) and Korean - any Japanese attempt to subjugate us and rob us of our bodies and resources will not be tolerated here, just as it is not tolerated in the Diaoyu Islands.

Warmongering nationalists (be they Japanese or Chinese) may be noisy enough to dominate headlines, but wouldn’t most people (be they Japanese or Chinese) just rather get on with their lives instead of fighting over useless rocks?

I will point out that the islands thing isn’t as ridiculous as it sounds – owning a rock gives you a huge amount of associated maritime space, which is really valuable for warmongering nations who always want to aggressively expand their territory.

I emailed L&S to ask about the double majoring question. Yes, your double major courses satisfy the 6 units of outside major requirement.

OP: Japanese upper division courses will count towards the L&S upper div requirement (you don’t only have to take those within your major; any upper division course offered by L&S will suffice).

Re: #4
Really? Japanese always attempt to subjugate and rob Chinese resources?
If you are saying it seriously, I have no word for you lol
And you should not put Korean into same category as Chinese.

I need to say that I understand there are sooooo many Japanese and Chinese who don’t wish to fight each other. It is free you hate Japanese, but you should not say that here in America. As #6 says, it’s annoying many people. It’s totally wrong! Here is the territory of America and we are comming for studying! If you wanna discuss about the issue btw Japan and China more, you need to go back to your country.

Anyway, thank you guys who answered my question. I’m glad to know Japanese courses are counted towards L&S requirement. I decided to take Japanese next fall semester because it’s gonna be toughest semester:(
