Eating Alone in Dining Hals?

If you would otherwise be eating alone and would rather not, it’s perfectly acceptable to approach someone else who is eating alone and ask, “Hi. Would you mind if I join you?” If they say, “No, thanks”, move on. If they are open to meeting new people, you might make a new friend.

I’d be annoyed. Not because I want to be alone, but because I don’t want to be forced to talk to a complete stranger.

^isnt college all about talking to complete strangers?

It’s different. At least, in a class, you know you have similar interests and something to talk about.

Hmm. I guess I wouldn’t mind in the first few weeks though.

I do it more often than not. It sucks, and I hate it, but I usually have a newspaper, or work to get a jump on.
I’ve gotten some good work done!

Still like being with friends though!

I eat alone all the time, and idgaf. I actually like it sometimes because the alone time gives you time to reflect on your thoughts. . .

Well, I also eat with friends too all the time.
