So, I am living in Brittany Hall this fall where there isn't a dining hall.

Any current/past students have suggestions on where/what to eat?

So, I am living in Brittany Hall this fall where there isn't a dining hall.

Any current/past students have suggestions on where/what to eat?

You can eat in any of the dining halls on campus

You’ll still be within walking distance of all the other dining halls. You can head up a few blocks to the union square area with Palladium and U-Hall and walk down to washington square area and eat at Weinstein, Hayden, or Kimmel. Also, I’m assuming that, living in Brittany, you’re an upperclassman, so you don’t need a meal plan. Go find some of the cheap places around the city that are probably going to be better than the dining halls.

Just kidding I’m an idiot, and remembered that Brittany is the one upperclass dorm this year without kitchens…so you will need a meal plan. So disregard the second half of my previous post.

@General - aw really? I was hoping that if there were kitchens I would get used to buying food at Costco and cooking myself.

What dining halls near Brittany would you recommend I go to? And any cheap/outside/healthy/good restaurants in the area you would recommend?

Brittany used to be a freshman dorm but is undergoing renovations so its a low-cost upperclass dorm now for people who plan on studying abroad in spring semester. You might have a kitchen in the basement that everyone can use…but no one will use it and its not that convenient other than for the occasional baking if you’re into that sort of thing. Go to U-Hall for great burgers, Palladium for slightly healthier options and better variety (their Sunday brunch is really popular, as is the sushi). When you’re closer to Washington Square for classes, go to Kimmel for the best variety and taste (although the lines can get long) amongst those dining halls in that area. Weinstein supposedly underwent changes over the summer, so idk what to expect there. As for restaurants…I’ll usually hit up St. Marks Place (it’s a street within walking distance of NYU and has tons of different restaurants with varying prices) or take a subway down the Chinatown with friends since I have an inclination towards Asian food.

Rubin Hall which is one or two blocks over has a dining hall.

Yeah Rubin’s an option too, although it has garnered the consensus opinion of worst dining hall (except for maybe Hayden on Mondays when they don’t really serve meat “Meatless Mondays”).

Omg please do not eat at Rubin…

Only the bravest of souls come back intact after a meal at Rubin.

Haha I will stay away from Rubin indeed, then!
