The only thing I hate about Amazon is that I’ve gotten about 10 e-mails from them in the last 4 hours.

do you mean half.com? i use half or amazon depends which one has the better deal

Amazon. It’s way more reliable than eBay, and faster. I only use eBay for stuff I can’t find on Amazon. Like many people said, you can get the Amazon Prime for free for 6 months for free 2 day shipping, and I’ve had stuff ship in 1 day on occasion. Also, Amazon has a brand new textbook rental service. They advertise that you can get up to 70% off your textbooks; I recently got my textbooks from them using that service, and I calculated the price I paid vs the price for new books, and it was almost exactly 70% in savings. One of the books was almost $300 new (ridiculous), and Amazon had it for rental for $50, while my college’s bookstore had it for rental for over $150 (still ridiculous).

if you want to get engineering textbooks, go to abebooks.com and buy the international editions. there’s no shame in supporting outsourcing if they’re overcharging for education here.

I’ve never had any major problem with my books, but I’ve heard bad stories from other people. just read the book descriptions carefully. sometimes, you can even get what you need from a previous edition, which are pretty much worthless and can be purchased for less than $15 shipped

Amazon, Amazon, Amazon

Amazon all the way. I haven’t ever purchased anything off of eBay. Amazon is an even better deal with a student account + Prime membership. I just really like it. Plus, I get the added bonus of the Prime instant video which I can stream free on the Kindle Fire.

Ebay is good if you’re looking for international editions of math/science textbooks.
