<p>My son was accepted a couple weeks ago. He intends to be a Chem major and apply to Med School. He is from Massachusetts, a captain in 2 sports, did very well in his Chem AP/ SATs and his older brother goes to PSU. He has applied to Schreyers but we wont hear until Feb. We visited the Chem Dept during the summer and were extremely impressed. Is there anyone out there who is a PSU Chem major or recent graduate who can vouch for the quality of the program compared to other Tier 1 universities (private and public)?</p>
<p>I’m a biology major and have taken many chemistry classes (8 credits general, 8 credits organic). The department is top notch, it is highly ranked nationally and has some superb faculty members. Intro classes can get a little rough at times, especially with the large class sizes. But if your son manages to get into the SHC, he can take the honors versions of all the general and organic classes, which have classes sizes less than 30 (i think, they are small regardless).</p>

<p>Accepted to eberly as well. I know a faculty member in the Chem dept, he is doing some very interesting research.</p>
<p>Good point psufan1993. I look forward to the research opportunities available at University Park. From what I’ve heard the research currently being conducted is top notch. I didn’t get any specifics on the research but whatever it is I’m positive that it’s as amazing as they say.</p>
