Does anyone have any information on the Eberly College of Sciences at PSU? I just applied for the chemistry program at there and was wondering how the classes were, what kind of reputation they have, the difficulty of admission compared to other colleges at Penn State. Basically just let me know anything you know about the program at Eberly. Also, if anyone else wants to chance me my stats are a few posts down, due to financial issues I will not be able to go to summer session if I get in, so my only hope is to get in for the Fall of 2009. THANKS.

CHEM 110 was easy; CHEM 112 sucked. Intro classes will have ~300 students. There will be lots of practice exams (exams and finals from previous years) on the course website if you need it. I hear the labs are a rip off. CHEM 111 (complements CHEM 110) is a 4-hour lab/week for 1 credit with quizzes and a final. CHEM 113 (complements CHEM 112) is the same. TA's and review sessions are pretty helpful. There will be lots of research opportunities if you're interested too. Just talk to a chemistry professor and he/she can hook you up with the right person. For admission, I believe it's easier than Smeal and Engineering. Just hope that they consider your 4.45 weighted GPA. You can always call them up and tell them your transcript says both your unweighted and weighted gpa and ask which one would they consider for admission if it makes you feel any better.

From what I was told while at Penn State, Eberly is one of the if not the hardest college to get into at Penn State. I'm also a chemistry major. I'm taking the honors chem 110 because it gives me a smaller class size and a better learning environment.
