EC/Common App question!

I have heard that having too many EC's can actually hurt your chances of admission; however, by following my passions in high school, I have a totall of about 12 EC's. BUT, they all connect back to international studies and healthcare/science/math(and a few leadership clubs-- Student Government and Mentoring Freshmen). I plan to major in Neurology and international studies. So, with that in mind, will my long list of EC's negatively affect my chances of admission, eventhough they all connect to my passion for the sciences and international studies?

Also, I have been actively involved in all clubs through leadership positions and volunteer work.

Thanks!

Buuuuummmp

I think you misinterpreted what you heard… It’s definitely NOT a bad thing to have a lot of ECs. What’s not good, is if you have a lot (quantity) of ECs that you are barely involved in (low quality). It’s better to be heavily involved in just a few ECs and claim accolades in just that, rather than have a ton of little things that you don’t put too much effort into.

Okay, thanks so much! I thought it might look like I did it all for my resume…
