i hope i posted this in the right place...

so basically i'm a junior right now, and i'm feeling very scared about my ECs because i personally feel like i haven't done enough to really catch the eye of some of the good schools i'm aiming for.

i'm a dancer, and ever since freshman year, i've been centering my extracurricular life around dance. my amount of rehearsal/class time for dance ranges from 7 (9th and 11th grade) to 13 (10th grade) hours per week. last year i was accepted onto my dance studio's competition team and we competed regionally and nationally. in the regional competitions, we won at least 2nd place in every competition we went to and in the national competition that we competed in, one of my dances won 3rd. i am on the competition team again this year as a junior and am expecting more winnings in this next upcoming competition season as well. i plan on continuing regular dance classes (probably 10 hours a week) in senior year and may or may not choose to remain on the competition team.

but the problem is, because dance takes up so much of my time (last year, i traversed to the studio every single day monday to saturday from right after school until pretty late the whole year) i couldn't join any school clubs or have enough experience or dedication in any other activities in high school to assume any leadership roles. i hear about all my friends doing this and that starting all these clubs being on the youth advisory board and craziness but all i managed to do was secure a spot in NHS and do community service that way. i can't do school sports either because it requires dedication that i can't give because of my dedication to dance.

i can't say im a legendary dancer, but i do have enough of a reputation to prove that i don't suck but im just really worried that being really into ONE thing isn't good enough. and another thing that takes the glory away from my one EC is that i don't plan on majoring in anything related to dance... i will definitely join dance clubs in college, but it won't be the direction that i'm heading toward... i heard that that's kind of not good either. im just kind of clinging on the hope that it makes me stand out a little more, because i don't hear a lot of people say they do lots of dance as an EC... my strongest style is actually hip hop, but since my awards are also won in other genres, i think it should be okay to not mention that tidbit since i feel like hip hop isn't quite as impressive in their eyes as something like ballet and needn't to be mentioned.

anyways, here are all the bits of stats that i have so far being a junior who hasn't taken the SAT yet.

i'm an asian female...
estimated SAT score: 2100-2200 (definitely above 2000, most likely in the given range)
GPA UW: 3.8
GPA W: 4.33
(w/ upward grade trend, even with added IB classes in junior year)

IB diploma candidate (full IB class schedule), honors classes before junior year (our school only allows IB classes for juniors and seniors) will be taken IB tests for all my IB classes (total six or seven) and possibly might take a few AP tests as well. Plan on taken SAT II Math level 2 and some other undecided subject. ECs as explained above, but what I have other dance so far is...

member of bio club, JSA (might varsity letter this), NHS, NJHS (freshman), Philosophy club, amnesty, volunteered at library for some time, acted in a community show every year for volunteering, i'm also very dedicated to church and am a worship leader for my church's youth group (perhaps my only leadership thing).

as for my essay for next year when the application time rolls around, i'm planning on writing about something that tells the story of how i became inspired to dance starting in 9th grade and went from being a noob to winning 3rd at nationals in the time frame of two years. but i don't know if thats good enough of a story...

i'm not really aiming for the ivies or anything big like that, but it would be nice if i could see any possible chances that i might get into UCLA, UC Berkeley (kind of a reach?), NYU, or something of the sort. I'm still in the process of researching about schools of interest, but if anyone could suggest any schools that might be a good match for me or maybe be of a little bit of a challenge, but still very possible... it would be great! thanks for reading my blabber! i know my stats are very vague and u probly can't judge anything from it, but just to give you an idea (:
