I have very good SATs/gpa/class rank, but im not sure if my ecs are okay. If most of ecs come from sports, (varsity), MVP, captain, etc.. will that be as "good" as being like... VP of NHS? or something like that?

bump bump bumppppp

Sports are great ECs, and being voted captain and MVP makes you stand out. Most colleges struggle to find academically qualified kids to fill their teams. Last year, my son got a special letter from Caltech asking specifically about his sports participation - even the most cerebral schools need ballplayers.

Having several athletes in the family, I know that devotion to a sport is terribly draining. When do you have free time? Try to round out your application with quick-hitting volunteer jobs, like fundraising walks, book or canned-food drives - they'll be happy to have your muscles work for them. Talk to a school friend who seems "connected" to what's going on in the community, and see if she/he will keep you in mind when opportunities come up. Also, look into summer opportunities in your field of interest; this is really important, not only for an application, but because you will learn if that truly is something you want to do for a living.

Thanks for the advice!
