EC Question

Hey guys, this may be a silly and trivial question but:

My team and I attended a regionals competition for the Academic WorldQuest (geography/politics/IR competition). To make it to nationals in DC, you have to get 1st place. My team and I placed 2nd. I was wondering whether or not I should include the phrase "alternates for the nationals competition" in the "awards" section of the CommonApp in addition to the fact that we placed 2nd at regionals, or whether or not that would be pushing it and show to colleges that I'm trying too hard to make myself look good.

I don't know, we missed nationals by 1 question out of 60 (because I misread a question), and I just feel really depressed and don't think I can ever forgive myself. I somehow want to convey on my application the fact that we got very close to making it to nations.

Thanks in advance...

I would say second place over alternates…it just sounds better in my opinion.

If I were to mention being alternates, I would do mention both things (2nd place and alternates)

Just say you placed second place at regionals.

Mention both second place and alternates to let the colleges know that your team almost made it to nationals.
